Unusual telephone box – or maybe not?

Came across this BT Phone Box in Austwick. To my surprise it had a working pay phone in it. I normally expect a defribulator, a collection of old books, or even a place to sell produce.i can’t remember the last time I have seen a working pay phone.


I looked it up, and there are about 10,000 working phone box’s, down from 100,000 at their peak. I was surprised so many existed. Couldn’t find how many were in Staffordshire.

Rabbit and venison

Decided to go to the local pub in Authwick for a meal. Didn’t start well when we tried to get a taxi. Uber said it will be there within 10 mins for 98% of the bookings. Sadly we were one of the 2%, and I had to drive the motorhome.

The pub was a game inn, so I decided to have venison and rabbit. Have to say,Ihave not had rabbit for a very long time, but it was lovely.

Pop up Ingleborough

A stroll up Ingleborough, one of the Yorkshire 3 peaks. Technically it’s a mountain (over 600m) but it feels like a lovely big hill.

I met an 8 y/o lad with his mum walking up. It was lovely to see. We also bumped into him the following day calling into Settle to get his badge to show to his friends that he had walked up it.

My son’s new house has been gutted, with builders in for several months. So it was A brave decision to hold Christmas for the family when they didn’t even have a working kitchen….

Less than two days to go and the kitchen wasn’t functioning. But they got there just in time, and a good time had by all. A few teething problems but the food was cooked properly.
