Black Dyke Band

Went to see the famous Black Dyke Band in Leyburn as part of the Swaledale Festival.

The concert was held in the auction centre, which was huge, modern, lots of money around here.

In the foyer was the famous mini covered in pennies. Lot of effort to stick them on….

The Black Dyke Band are the European and British champions and they showed off their trophies – huge.

They may be very good, but their time management is poor.

The first half this missed out one piece ( the only one I knew), and they were worse in the second, missing out three pieces, again the ones I knew….

If they have a programme they should at least stick to it. So regrettably not impressed…..

Great walk and a swift pint

Great walk with Phil, around 12 miles, and seeing ltd of wildlife on a walk between Gunnerside and Keld.

With 3 miles to go, we called into the local pub. At Muker, but is it open?

Oops it is on the other side of the road.

In the pub, they go into detail about how the beer is made.

Pleasant trip down to London

Travelled down to London today from Lichfield instead of Derby.

The journey was pleasant, not crowded, and half the price of going from Derby. The drive to Lichfield was only 10 mins longer than Derby, and cheaper/easier to park.

Should have gone this route before…..

Lovely time with the family

Had a lovely meal with David, Mary, Aiden, Maria and Sally in the Manor at Quorn. Excellent meal can definitely recommend it. It is directly opposite Quorn railway station.

Popped into the railway station to look at the rolling stock, even has a turntable.

Then it was off to the race track.

David’s first car was the Atom. Very fast, 0 – 60 in 2.8 secs.

Then the Ferrari, his favourite.

A lovely car.

Then it was the Lambo.

Then back down to earth with a ride in a Land Rover.

Ilam – why make it difficult

Lovely walk to Ilam today. Not been there for a few weeks.

Enjoy how lovely it is.

So why is the Council closing one of the main roads in for all of June? It is probably the busiest times of the year, so why make it difficult to get there. Why couldn’t you have chosen November? End of rant…..
