Blind man and his dog

Standard

27 July 2016

Went for a walk along the Tissington trail this morning and met a blind man.

He was on his own walking down the trail with a white stick. Apparently he was practicing for a walk from Derby  to Sheffield. Impressed.

He did have his pet dog with him (off the lead), with a little bell round his neck. The only downside was that the dog has leant how to walk without ringing the bell – smart animal.

People with disabilities can achieve.

I wish him well.

An hour faster

Standard

25 July 2016

After the weekend run by Andrew & Sarah I decided to do a long walk today. Can’t let the younger generation have all the fun.

32 miles from Monyash, via Taddington, Monsal Head, Bakewell, Rowsley, Birchover, Youlgrave, and back to Monyash.

The good news, last time it took 10.5 hrs, today I did it in less than 9.5. Very pleased.

24hr relay run – day 2

Standard

24 July 2016

Andrew ran another 10k during the night. Quite difficult running through a wood in the middle of the night.

Getting ready for the third 10k run at 07:00. Spot the smile.

One of his team arriving back (1913).

On his way to the finishing line.

Slowing down.

Tired.

Very tired. Absolutely shattered. Can’t see the smile….

24hr relay run – Catton Hall

Standard

23 July 2016

24hr relay run, over a 10k circuit over fields and through a wood. There must have been at least 1000 there. The atmosphere was fabulous.

Getting ready to go

Andrew’s on his way. You can just spot him in Orange.

Was impressed with the logistics, then had 4 water tankers.

In comes Andrew after his first 10k

He looks tired at the end of his first 10k.

Andrews new toy

Standard

22 July 2016

Andrew bought a new toy, you don’t need a pump to blow it up. Quite a clever idea, possible on the beach. Apparently it has won a number of awards. £25, not sure.

Digging in a graveyard

Standard

21 July 2016

A little walk this afternoon through Mayfield.

I find it a little strange seeing a trench dug in the churchyard.

Not sure I would feel comfortable digging in a churchyard, and not disturbing a grave.

House auction

Standard

20 July 2016

Off to a house auction in Chesterfield with my son. Surprised that over 100 attended. Interesting, although I can’t say I enjoyed it. Didn’t buy anything….

I get the feeling that the auctioneers are the main winners…..
