However it got to the state that I thought it A good idea to see out the window.

It felt like being at work a full day of meeting in 4 different locations. Overall a very productive day.
The morning Community Transport meeting in Ashbourne I got the 2020 budget approved, if we hit it we will have made a big improvement on 2019. We are making great strides moving from grant supported to partially commercial charity in just a few years.
Afternoon a meeting with the parish council and a person from the County Council. Excellent meeting after 8 years of trying to get agreement/money for a traffic calming measure at Stubwood hollow the County came up with a simple, cheap and effective solution. This will be done before the end of March. He also confirmed that the pavements in denstone a source of irritation and falls/injuries will be sorted by end of March.
Then onto Cheadle for a citizen advice board meeting. Again good news, hitting targets, helping more people than planned and we have been successful in more bids.
Finally off to burton for a council meeting. Sadly not as productive as the others but still interesting.

A beautiful walk in late October. After a cold start the sun shone and I enjoyed a great walk from Youlgrave, sadly a few too many cars parked but still lovely. Then to Bakewell, always good to potter round the market on a Monday. On to Ashford in the water, a very pretty village with a friendly cafe.
Moving up the hill to the famous Monsal Head, looking down the valley past the viaduct is always impressive. Then onward to Monyash via deep dale, for the best bacon butty in the area.
The final bit is partly along the limestone way back to Youlgrave. A respectable 18 mile walk.
Peaceful view over the pond in Monyash

Even peacocks on top of an old pig sty.

The views are always inspiring, the pictures don’t do them justice.

Out for an early walk, aiming for 18-20 miles. Starting at Youlgrave. It’s cold just below freezing.

Alfie normally wakes up at 6 for breakfast. Sadly with the clocks changing its now 5. That’s just. A bit too early.
Need to work on this or I will be going to bed very early in the evenings…

Normally have fish on Fridays, for a change we had swordfish. Not had it before. I cooked it simply in butter. Nice but the flavours weren’t that strong. Ideas/recipes gratefully received. Mr Google has a number, but prefer recommendations.

After watching a great English victory over the All Blacks I decided to go for a walk, full waterproof gear.
Very wet, fields flooded.

Some of the paths impassable. Spot the footpath sign.

Called in at the Alton Bridge hotel for a coffee. The poor landlord rescuing the furniture from the underwater garden.

Just looked at the original and lighter versions of Ovaltine in the supermarket.
The lighter version is add water (ie it contains milk powder) the original you add milk.
The lighter version has more salt and more fat. It really is do you want milk powder or fresh milk. A bit of a con.

Took Alfie to the vets this morning for a minor op.
Sadly there will be no little Alfie’s in the future.

Recovering on the sofa with Sally.

Yet another dire Derby game. This time against Wigan.

So bad the people next to me left at half time and I left 20 mins early, first time I have ever left that early…….
