I was given a free newspaper today. It is called ‘the light paper’. Never heard of it before but apparently although small distribution it’s widely distributed across the U.K (according to mr Google).

It’s very anti lockdown and anti establishment but with a sprinkle of truth. An interesting approach, avoiding social media and the increasing fact checkers.

As confidence in mainstream press diminishes such tiny and potentially dangerous outlets flourish.

Diazepam

Was in real pain (spasms) and the doctor prescribed diazepam. Not had it before but seems to do the trick.

What interested me was what doctors use it for?

It’s main uses include to manage anxiety; muscular spasms, and to reduce alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

I was impressed how they find out that such a drug has such wide ranging health improvement properties.

The main downside for me was that combined with the strong painkillers. I have been asleep most of the afternoon. I just hope I can sleep tonight…

Back spasms

Suffering back pain for a few weeks. However had a turn for the worse.

Yesterday was able to walk but back at home I couldn’t get off the sofa without crutches ??. Today it got worse. At 5am I found I couldn’t get out of bed without shooting pain.

Called 111, and the system sort of worked. The main down side was that they said someone would ring back within 2hrs. In fact it was nearly 4hrs.

Having said that, they quickly identified the problem and sent a prescription to the local pharmacy. Slickly done….

Pain subsiding, but scary when you are constantly on the move only to find you are in bed and can’t move.

Lots of shopping – which is best?

Sally and I went shopping today (a rarity).

First to the garden centre. Got a few plants from Wyaston nursery. It’s another government restriction I don’t fully get. Always good quality. In a few weeks will need to get the bedding/ hanging basket plants. Went today to avoid the rush as we go into the easter period.

Then off to the butchers. Several cuts including our favourite, topside of beef for Sunday lunch.

Finally to the House of Beer. Bought a few beers chocolate/stouts for me and more citrus/unusual ones for Sally. Pretty certain I will not be drinking ‘custard raspberry dessert pale’….

So which is the better. Improving the garden; excellent meat; or some unusual beers? A hard call…..

Excellent – Alan Turing

It is great that Alan’s recognition continues. Today it was announced he would be on the next £50 note.

An absolute genius who did great things for this country (and mankind). Sadly he was treated badly, but now the recognition continues.
