Busy Christmas Day

Standard

25 December 2022

Despite Mia being excited for over 10 days she was surprisingly late getting up to open her presents. A nice civilised start to the day at home with Krystyna & Mia opening their presents.

Then off to Wakefield for a traditional Christmas and very large meal with my youngest grandchild.

Finally off to my other grandchildren in pilsley, a lovely time.

Enjoyable if somewhat tiring day…..

3 wheel landy – dangerous

Standard

23 December 2022

My old series landy was in for some welding and a few bits and pieces doing (excellent job done)

However one fairly important bit was omitted. The wheel nuts weren’t tightened up fully.

It’s an experience losing a front wheel especially driving in the dark.

On the positive it’s an old landy so doesn’t go fast. I am lucky I kept it in a relatively straight line (see the marks on the road). Also the nuts on the other front wheel were v loose, so lucky I didn’t lose both wheels. I could well be in hospital instead of visiting my family over Christmas.

Lesson learnt – ‘avoid driving in the dark with a wheel missing !!!’

Christmas at Chatsworth

Standard

21 December 2022

Unfortunately a friend was under the weather so two tickets to Chatsworth became available. Thanks very much.

Been a long time since I have been in the house, usually prefer the gardens.

What an excellent job they have done decorating the house and the light displays in the garden.

Spot me in the snow?

Will have to go next year ?

Wanted: rental accommodation Ashbourne

Standard

18 December 2022

Our Ukrainian family is moving on to establish a more permanent life in the UK.

It’s time that they have their own place. Many other Ukrainian families have/are going through this stage.

We have set ourselves a target of 2 months to find somewhere ideally in Ashbourne although it would be great if they could find something in our local village (but I suspect not).

They are a young mother who works and 5 year old daughter. Both are lovely and speak excellent English. By the time they leave they will have been with us 10 months, so as you can imagine it will be very sad to see them move on.

SO we are looking for ideally a 2 bed house/flat in the Ashbourne area for long term let.

Please let me know if you can help and I will pass the information on.

Thanks in anticipation ????
