Great news, a new addition to the Sankey family. Mother and son well. Only two days old, awaiting a name……

Today I went to watch Mia in a Mother’s Day concert. A bit strange, about 40-50 mothers, and 3 men, presumably dads/grandads.i did enjoy it, and was pleased I wasn’t the only man there…..I first for me.

Off to a meeting/meal in the Toby Carvery in Streetly (north Birm8ngham). A 60 mile round trip. Annoyingly the pub carpark has a car parking eye on it, so if you don’t register when you arrive, a week later you get a nasty surprise- which I did…….

luckily I appealed it and they withdrew it. However it’s a nasty money making scheme, and I don’t see any benefit for the customers.

Off to the Gresley Arms with my aunt and uncle.

great little pub that they regularly go to every Thursday. Usually go for a drink and a bite to eat, sitting at the same table. This week several of my uncles brothers were there (average age well above 85). It made me feel young ??. A really enjoyable time.

Off to a village near Lincoln in my MGBGT to visit Graeme & Marion (Sally’s aunt & uncle).

He had a very similar one in 1969 and loved it. We went for a ride and he throughly enjoyed it, bringing back memories.

A good day had by all. Not the most economical car, filled up as we left home, and had to fill up again on the way back home….

My son bought 2 lots of paint from B&Q, same colour.

same colour ‘tough & durable’ v ‘walls & ceilings’ you would expect them to be the same colour if one is slightly more silky. But alas no. You can spot the difference.

Bit of bad luck, at least he knew he had to put a second coat on….

Getting used to the new car.

Car had problems starting from cold, should have had an automatic choke, but didn’t. Then discovered (thanks to a bit of help) that the ‘rear window’ switch is in fact the choke switch. Not very logical, but when you know it’s really useful, and the car starts…

Not fully grasped what the intermediate speed hold actually means….
