Missed a good match

Standard

15 January 2024

Weather really cold (-3c) , Monday evening game, and my son not coming to the game.

Sadly I missed an excellent local derby game against Burton, with Derby winning 3:2 in extra time.

Typical I go to the matches where we perform badly, and the ones we do well I don’t go to. ?

Great time in Solihull!!!

After yesterday’s pointless meeting, the other extreme.

Went to Solihull for a meeting and meal with the Wolseley Register (car club). A really friendly group of people. Had a most enjoyable evening.

My Wolseley doesn’t have a heater (optional extra back in 1958…). So I have tried to get the bits to make/put one in. Managed to get a few more bits ?

Primitive Smiths heater
A few more bits

Hopefully over the coming weeks I will have a heater ?

A pointless waste of time

Attended a meeting in Burton. Myself, one other cllr and 7 officers to discuss an alternative budget.

A complete waste of everyone’s time as even if the suggestions were first class, they wouldn’t be accepted by the current administration.

The one positive, was that one of the relatively junior accountants was excellent and very knowledgable. Which is great given how many senior accountants the council has lost over the last 9 months….

Trying to stop me asking questions ?

Standard

3 January 2024

Had an interesting email from the leader of the council.

Apparently I am asking the council too many questions, and he would like me to stop.

I think he is missing the point. If they answered the first time, instead of avoiding the questions, I wouldn’t ask as many.

It doesn’t feel very democratic for one party to try and restrict questions from another.

People who know me, will know how I will react.

Active relatives

There is hope for me. Went to visit my aunt & uncle aged 83 & 86. My aunt is a bit frail, but they are doing really well. Just back from Goa, and off again soon. Great to see them enjoying themselves…

Gained a daughter

28 December 2023

Andrew and Kirsty marry. A great day, gaining a daughter-in-law ??

Even the weather was kind, rained all day but stopped for an hour to take the pics.

Maria and Kian before the wedding
Waiting for the bride to arrive

Some of the ‘sankey’ family. Great to see them all.

Not a bad groom speech.

It was a lovely day, Cole was really well behaved, and I even had chance to do some dad dancing with my new daughter in law and Sally ???

Still waiting for the official pics which I am sure will be lovely.

Christmas at chatsworth

Standard

25 December 2023

After Maria’s birthday we headed to chatsworth in the Motorhome.

Early morning cuppa in the cups that the grandkids designed. Excuse the pile of crocs.

One of the nice things about staying in the chatsworth campsite are the views as you enter the park……
