Great time on the Isle of Lewis.
Lovely place but for me too many peat bogs and not enough hills. The beaches were fabulous lovely white sand (but windy and cool).
Also didn’t spend hardly any time in Stornoway…
Alfie loves being on the beach…
Old houses on the island.
Famous stone circle. Certainly larger than the little ones around the Peak & Lake districts.

First of 5 ferries as we head over to the Isle of Lewis
After staying in 3 car parks, looking forward to staying at a real campsite.

Got to the ferry port (Ullapool), and saw 9 Ferrari’s queuing to get on the ferry to Sornoway.
They look lovely, although I did smile as we all had to wait a few minutes to get off the ferry. All the Ferrari’s had to drive really slowly to avoid wrecking underneath the cars ??.
At least I can sleep in my vehicle….

A bit of history as we visit the Culloden battlefield (near Inverness).
Good visitor centre, plenty of parking. A very one sided battle mainly due to one side preparing well and the other poor planning and preparation……

This poster on a wall in a pub/hotel in northern mainland Scotland.
Got mixed views, it’s good that help is being offered. Not sure what sort of message it sends for someone just turning up for a drink.
I believe Scotland has the highest drug related death rate in Europe. So all ideas must be a help.

On our way up ‘north’ called in at Pitlochry. Just had to buy a bottle of the lovely stuff.
Saw this in the shop window. Whisky tasting rare malts from £550 ??

Off on our Scottish road trip.
First three nights staying in car parks….
First night staying in the centre of Moffat, a lovely little town in the borders. Been there many times. Great place to pop in.
second night in a pub car park just outside Inverness. Food good, beer ok.
Third night in a car park in Ullapool only 480 miles from home, next door to the local Tesco?.

Off to the Cotswolds to visit some of our relatives on a visit from New Zealand.
Met at a pub outside Cirencester. Strange the pub had spaces for customers arriving on horseback.
Look closely and you can see the ‘Horse parking’ sign.
