Last weekend on the Wirral. Had to call in the local beer shop to get supplies to take home for our Belgium beer tasting. Just one side of a large room.

Last day in the office. Despite being in before 7, I was the 4th to get in. A positive message.
Mixed emotions, there are lots of things I will miss here, but equally there are lots I definitely will not. On balance the decent people here outweigh the poor things…..

Had a lovely day in Liverpool today, calling in at the Cavern Club

There was live music from 12:00. Interesting lighting impact on Sally.

Down the lane, lots of Beatles things to see down Mathew Street.

Mixed views of Liverpool. Last night I went out for a quick pint in Liverpool, wanted to try out a well known pub, the ‘ship & mitre’.
Great pub, large choice of ales

They even provided a bowl of ‘scouse’, stew to you & I for free. Someone who dropped a lot of £20 notes on the floor, and didn’t notice, had several people quickly tell hm so he didn’t lose any.
After a really nice drink I headed home and found I had to wait 20 mins for a bus, so I nipped into the nearest pub…. Yates. Bad move, the beer was poor, although only £2.10, and Nottingham Forest were on the TV.
Morale of the story, don’t spoil a good night by going into a bad pub.

Last weekend was tackling the garden time.
Honest it isn’t really that overgrown, I can still spot Sally.

It is 10 years since Brian Clough passed away. A great manager and person.
10 minutes into the game all around the ground people were clapping to acknowledge their respect.

Sally’s new job is helping out at the local Oxfam bookshop, she is loving it..
What a surprise, she returns home on the first day with 2 books she has purchased

I have a feeling more are on the way.

I like public transport, it’s a key component of the UK’s infrastructure.
Yesterday I went to London in the afternoon. Firstly my train from the office to Liverpool lime st was curtailed after 1 stop due to signalling failure, hence a 10 min walk across Liverpool, pleasant but could have done without it.
Train down fine and smooth, even the tube trips weren’t a problem, in part because I was going against the normal rush hr flow.
Coming back just when you want to get home the train was running late, finally getting to Birkenhead bus station after 10pm, quite spooky at that time of night, the shopping centre next to it empty, shutters, giving an eerie glow.

In the end a 4 hour door to door trip, which doesn’t sound too bad, but is tiring….

Went to London yesterday, and came across this sign

There is a huge difference between London, and the rest of us. I know of people waiting years to sell their homes…
