Bye Bye shed

Standard

28 June 2021

Got a large wooden shed that used to be the garage many many years ago. Sadly way past it’s best, leaks and lots of holes. Time to be replaced.

16’x8’ looks nice but

Took me ages to empty it, it’s amazing how much stuff/rubbish you keep.

With the felt off you can see why it wasn’t too waterproof
Rotten roof gone

Now waiting for the new one to arrive. Really pleased I did it on my own.

Peak Pilgrimage – nearly 40 miles

Standard

26 June 2021

First long distance walk we have done for ages. Nik, Allen, Kevin and myself (not forgetting Alfie and cosmo),set off to walk the Peak Pilgrimage from Ilam to Eyam.

Started at 05:50 (should have been 05:30). We looked quite fresh as we started off from Ilam

A long walk nearly 40 miles. We walked for around 13.5 hours and had 4 stops (total 1:30). So the total was 15 hours.

Great views all day

You can spot Chatsworth in the distance.

Lots of lovely churches to see.

The end of the walk, now off for a quick pint.

Great days walking.

Enigma machine

Standard

24 June 2021

Went to the Ashbourne Festival event about the enigma machine with my son David.

We had a great evening despite the COVID restrictions.

I quite fancied an enigma machine. There were a lot produced, but sadly only around 300 left. This one is insured for £500k, but you can get them for £300k upwards – wow.

Far too expensive, will have to settle for tractors….

NHS Trace & Trace – unhelpful comment

Standard

23 June 2021

Like a lot of people I use the NHS Tack & Trace app. Today I got the following message.

So I have been somewhere (they will not say), at some time (they will not say) on a specific. Day (they will not say).

For me it’s likely to be a cafe.

What do I need to do? Nothing different than what I suppose to do.

No need to self isolate. Stick to social distancing.

Had a test and it’s negative ?

Father’s Day

Standard

20 June 2021

A good ‘fathers day’. Mind stretched out over 10 days. Saw my eldest son and family Monday. Today I had a lovely day with my youngest son. And next Thursday I am going out with my eldest again. A great time.

I am fortunate to have two sons who I am very proud of.

Old man of coniston

Last day in the lakes before heading home. So a quick stroll up Old Man of coniston. 1:50 up, and 1:20 down. A bit cloudy and cool.

Hard climb. I felt it….

Walked up a few times. A great mountain to climb, just a shame it wasn’t slightly more sunny.

Not used much…

Not used much.

Only 2 mornings a week

Our local libraries are open much more than this.

A phone box near Hawkshead. It doesn’t look like it’s used v much. You can see why BT wants to close them.
