Makes you think

I was walking around Middleton tonight and came across this notice.

From this single quarry over 100,000 headstones were made following the first world war. It makes you think…

Helping in the rain

Standard

7 June 2014

Last night and most of today we helped a couple of friends remove an old fence, and erect a new one.

The main issue was that it kept on throwing it down. It rained and rained.

Despite all this we had some fun. Neil (Mr He-man) shows us how to carry a large bit of tree.

Eventually he does it.

Work continues around the back, Allan pondering what to do next.

Finally I arrive back wet bedraggled, and trousers filthy…

Into the bath for a soak.

Sunny evening

Went for an evening walk around Hoylake. Miles and miles of sand.

Headed off to the island in the distance

After quite a long walk, my timing wasn’t quite right and the tide was in too much. Didn’t think it was a good idea to paddle….

So headed on to West Kirby, where at 20:00, in the lovely evening sun, I just couldn’t resist a nice……

Rest before the next meal

Wednesday night a little late evening stroll down the Wirral way.

A little friend having a rest before looking for his next meal

Only a few meters from me.

Off he goes

Think I need a better camera for late evening photo’s.

Adventurous or stupid?

A group of men from church are thinking about doing the 3 peaks in just over 2 weeks. Not a lot of planning/preparation.

I got sent this today

http://www.mcofs.org.uk/news.asp?s=2&id=MCS-N11432&nc=Hill

Doesn’t look good, especially as the current ‘plan’ is to drive up to Ben Nevis after a ful day at work, then start the 3 peaks. This means climbing up Ben Nevis, with snow in the dark….. Told Sally where the insurance policies are…..

Not got a driver sorted out yet, another little opportunity….

Also my asthma isn’t good, not 100% fit and I have a problem with one of my feet! other than that I am fine.

Watch this space….

Early morning event

3 June 2014

One of the women at work called into see her sister early this morning. Only to see her in the bath, having just given birth, the cord was still attached, and the midwife on the way.

Now that’s what I call a good start to the day….

Blocked path

Walk before breakfast as the sun was shining.

Anyone would think they did it on purpose. The cows always seem to congregate by the stile, slightly disconcerting that you have to walk right up to them to get them to move.

‘Who is going to give in first’….

They eventually shift… 🙂

Belgium bar – strange customs

Standard

1 June 2014

Last night we, along with some of our neighbours went to a Belgium bar in Leek.

A great time was had by all. A strange custom, I ordered a Kwak beer, only to be told you have to hand in one of your shoes before they would give you one.

Good job there was no holes in my socks… 🙂

It was a nice drink, only 8.3% proof.

Meal was excellent, which helped to soak up the drink, then back home with a crazy taxi driver ( texted as he drive going, and drove v fast on the way home), can’t say I would recommend him.
