Off for a snowy walk with a friend and Alfie. Over the local fields, up to Alton, then Dimmingsdale and back home. A respectable 11 miles.

Heavy snow this afternoon, bringing a Christmas feel.

Alfie loves the snow, although a little confused when we throw snowballs and they crumble before his eyes.

Relief. After 6 days we now have a working central heating/hot water system. Had to manage three nights without heating.

So glad it’s working in time for the freezing weather and snow.

Pretty impressive system, house feels v warm despite the freezing temperatures outside. That is without two radiator upgrades due on Tuesday.

The only worry is how expensive is it going to be. Only time will tell.

I don’t do ‘dry January’ however I do enjoy the odd non alcoholic beer.

The trouble with dry January is that the non alcoholic beers are so popular I can’t get my favourite…?

I suppose I will have to drink the normal stuff until February ?

Day 5 of heating system installation. Good news nearly complete

The bad news, third evening without central heating, although we do have hot water.

They are back tomorrow (Saturday) to finish the job, except for one radiator due next Tuesday. Phew…

The other bit of bad news, I will now have no excuse for not doing the decorating ??

Lot of water overnight. All the fields are flooded.

Carried on up the trail to Alton. Trail no passable, under 8” to a foot of water.

Feels like a long day.

Initially a 2 hr plus walk in the rain with the dog.

Afternoon council scrutiny meeting on waste management.

This evening over 2.5hrs discussing next years council priorities and budget.

Both meetings in a house without central heating or hot water.

Believe me, I needed a drink ???

Work progressing. Oil boiler removed.

The downside no heating and no hot water at the moment. Not ideal ?

Good job we have log burners as well.

They have unpacked the air source heat pump. A big bit of kit.

Still working on the radiators.

A long way to go yet.

Both nights we have had the heating on. Tomorrow they remove the boiler so no hot water or heating. ?
