Hologram concert…

Standard

16 April 2018

We went to the Roy Orbison hologram tour at the royal concert centre Nottingham.

It was really enjoyable if somewhat surreal. He did look 3D but didn’t move a lot other than playing his guitar and singing.

sadly they wouldn’t let people take pictures in the auditorium.

Monsal Head

One of my regular walks Monyash to Monsal Head, then onto Ashford in the Water, Bakewell and back to Monyash. Just short of 15 miles.

Monsal Head is always lovely, today there was quite a bit of water around.

Great time, shame about the football

Off to Burton Albion.

Firstly the good news. Had a great time before the match. Burton has some great pubs, barrels behind the bar. Bumped into several friends/supporters. Even the weather was good. The ground was ‘a lovely little ground’, standing room for the away supporters.

Now the bad news, we played awful, lost 3:1. The second time in a few weeks we have been thrashed by the club at the bottom of the league. It was that bad, we were cheering the ex Derby players who were playing for Burton, and there were quite a few of them.

Great talk

Went to Ashbourne Tractor club… Really interesting talk about ‘Derbyshire, it’s character and characters’ by Peter Amour.

A very knowledgable speaker who is happy to give talks to a variety of events at a very reasonable price. Recommend him.

Nice but incompetent

Took the van (Pedro) back up to Preston for some warranty work.

Not impressed when they said their records show the work wasn’t due til 30th….. went into ‘determined’ mode. Now being done next week as planned – I hope.

People were nice but sadly processes not up to it.

Not a bad job

Wouldn’t mind working here.

Sounds great, playing with these toys. Nice landy, even got a little grey fergie tractor, and it’s based in Longnor a lovely part of the Peak District .

Ashbourne to Buxton

Standard

9 April 2018

Decided to walk from home to Buxton. Shorter than recent strolls only 24 miles, but still enjoyable.

Started quite foggy/misty

Then it got much warmer

Strange thing in the middle of nowhere.

Then got to Buxton, coffee with a friend then home on the bus. Good day out
